I'm Ellie, an experienced BACP accredited counsellor offering both short-term and long-term therapy for adults and young people. My practice is based in Steyning, West Sussex, but I am also trained to work with clients online, giving you flexibility in how we connect. I specialise in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling and EMDR therapy and have extensive experience in areas including trauma, family and relationship issues, anxiety, bereavement and depression. However, I can help with a wide range of issues you may be faced with.
I know reaching out for support isn't easy. We all have times when we may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or experiencing difficult emotions. This is a natural part of all our realities. Life's challenges might leave us feeling disconnected with ourselves and those around us. Perhaps past experiences are holding you back, or you're facing challenges in your relationships. Whatever brings you here, you've taken an important first step.
My approach is warm, compassionate and empathetic, and tailored to your unique needs. In our sessions we'll work alongside each other in a safe, confidential space, to explore your challenges and move towards positive change.
Often we can successfully negotiate difficult times or events ourselves, but sometimes we may decide that we need some help. Counselling provides a dedicated time and space just for you; a space to explore your thoughts and feelings openly, developing your emotional wellbeing towards a more fulfilling life. Our work together offers an opportunity for personal reflection, greater self awareness, re-discovering strengths, joy, and building resilience. Many clients find that counselling brings clarity, helping them feel more in control of their lives and improving their relationships.
Throughout my years of practice, I've supported clients facing a diverse range of challenges. Whether you're grappling with stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, low confidence, feeling stuck or navigating complex relationship and family issues, I'm here to help. Many of my clients seek support during times of grief, loss, or significant life transitions. Whatever your personal journey, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can work together towards healing and growth. My experience spans many areas of human struggle, and I'm committed to tailoring our sessions to your unique needs and goals.
Should the difficulties you are experiencing stem from a traumatic event, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) may be the most productive therapeutic approach. This is a specialised therapy that can be particularly effective for processing traumatic experiences and relieving symptoms of PTSD. It can also help with anxiety, phobias, and other issues rooted in distressing past events. EMDR works by helping your brain reprocess difficult memories, reducing their emotional impact and allowing you to move forward. As a trained EMDR practitioner, I can guide you through this transformative process.
Taking the first step is often the hardest part, but I'm here to make it easier. Simply reach out via phone, email, or the contact form. We'll arrange a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and answer any questions. If we're a good fit, we can schedule our first session and begin our work together. This might be over a short period or on a more long term basis. You are in control and are free to stop therapy at any point.
